My experience in this recent pandemic and ongoing role as a father are quite similar. Mostly, I feel overwhelmed; full of fits, starts, and stumbles. I don’t really remember having much preparation, training, or proper orientation for each of these events (fatherhood and this pandemic) the moments they arrived. In fact, there is an irony to both events.
Congratulations! If you are a dad by adoption, by foster care, by unofficial adoption, or by procreating, congratulations! You have now become a superhero. … You do not need to be a perfect dad. In fact, that would be a mistake. What does it look like to be a “pretty good dad”?
For those who haven’t heard, we’ve introduced a new Middle School Ministry to serve students in grades six, seven, and eight! Led by Associate Pastor Ren Nelson and Ministry Leader Aubree Bryant, this ministry will challenge middle school students to love God and people passionately, to learn God’s Word so well that it completely changes their worldview, and to lead for Christ in their homes and schools.
